Our standards of Practice

BeVeOm is a national network of complaint and improvement managers as well as Ombuds in Higher Education Institutions in Germany.

The field of activity of the network members is processing suggestions, complaints, critics, suggestions of improvement and, if necessary, the initiation of measures to improve and safeguard teaching and study conditions.

The goal of the network is to create a national network of individuals working in this field, to maintain a close exchange among members, to share knowledge and insights, to widen competence and to initiate, support and accompany the transnational development. Beyond that, an exchange with national and international networks also occurs. The additional goal of the network is to be the first place to go for advice and to support the further development and professionalization through active exchange.

The network BeVeOm seeks to contribute to a culture of fairness at German universities through the complaint and improvement management as wells as ombuds offices. The following principles are important for the work of the members:

Independence – the complaint and improvement managers as well as Ombuds work as autonomous and independent of assigned areas or facilities as possible.
